Richard Mille and Audemars Piguet: A Design Comparison
Share
Richard Mille and Audemars Piguet take distinctly different approaches to watch design. This archived comparison brings together open dials, bold case shapes and gem setting, with photographs that show the contrast more clearly than a ranking of the two brands.

Case shape and the view inside
The white Richard Mille has an elongated, curved outline and a dial that exposes layers of components. The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak has a more angular bezel, visible screws and a patterned dial. In the pictured Royal Oak, an opening near six o’clock provides another view into the mechanism.

Bracelet or a bright strap?
The Royal Oak’s bracelet continues the geometry of its case. The Richard Mille with a red strap uses color to separate the strap from the darker case, with yellow details adding another contrast. These are individual examples; neither represents every material or movement offered by its maker.

Make the comparison on your wrist
Look at case thickness, how the strap or first bracelet links curve, and whether the dial remains readable in ordinary light. Confirm the complete reference, service history and originality of any gem setting before comparing prices. A brand name alone does not establish water resistance, a particular mechanism or future value.
