Rolex in 2020 and 2021: New Models and Discontinuation Claims

Our original 2021 feature discussed the Rolex changes around the start of the decade. Looking back requires a clear distinction between a confirmed release, a discontinued reference and a prediction that did not establish either.

The 2020 Oyster Perpetual Changes

Rolex’s September 2020 material describes the Oyster Perpetual in 28, 31, 34, 36 and 41 mm sizes. It also records calibre 3230 in the 36 and 41 mm versions. Those are details of that release, not a claim that every dial color was offered in every size.

Do Not Treat Predictions as Announcements

The earlier text speculated about Yacht-Master discontinuation. An expectation in a blog is not evidence that Rolex stopped making a model. A reference leaving a catalog is also different from the entire collection being discontinued.

Read the Archive Photos in Context

The gallery contains a mixture of Rolex styles, including a flexible strap watch and a gem bezel Datejust on leather. These are retained archive photographs, not a complete or verified lineup of the 2020 Oyster Perpetual releases.

When comparing a watch from this period, record its full reference, dial description and bracelet or strap. Then check the appropriate dated manufacturer material and the individual watch’s records. A change in production does not, by itself, determine a previously owned watch’s price or future value.
