Three Stone Engagement Rings: Proportions, Settings and Design

Three Stones, One Balanced Design
A three stone engagement ring brings a center stone and two side stones into one composition. Some couples connect the three stones with past, present and future; others simply like the wider spread across the finger. The meaning is yours to choose.

Choose Proportions by Looking
There is no fixed fraction that makes every side stone the correct size. Compare the center and side stones together, including their length, width and height. Matching shapes can create continuity, while contrasting outlines can emphasize the center.

Look Under the Stones
The workshop and computer images in this gallery show why the mounting matters. Basket height, prong placement and the angle of the side stones all affect the finished outline. A view from above will not show whether the ring is comfortable beside a wedding band.

Review the Design Before Making It
For a custom project, discuss the metal, stone details, ring size and intended band pairing before approving the design. Ask which changes are possible at each stage and whether they affect the price or schedule. A computer rendering helps communicate the plan, but should be reviewed together with the actual stone measurements.
