Rolex Batman: Comparing the 116710BLNR and 126710BLNR
Share
The Blue and Black Bezel
Batman is a collector nickname for the blue and black bezel Rolex GMT Master II. This feature compares the older 116710BLNR with the later 126710BLNR, using photographs from our original article. Both share the recognizable two color bezel, but a bracelet photograph alone should not be used to establish a watch’s reference or production details.
Oyster and Jubilee Choices
The older example in the gallery is shown on the three link Oyster bracelet, while the later comparison highlights the five link Jubilee. That historical pairing is not a rule that every later Batman must have a Jubilee bracelet. Rolex’s current GMT Master II collection includes both bracelet styles, depending on the configuration. Confirm the exact reference and bracelet supplied with an available watch.
A Travel Watch with a 24 Hour Display
The separate 24 hour hand and graduated bezel make the GMT display useful for comparing time zones. The blue and black halves divide the bezel into day and night portions; they are not simply an a.m. half and a p.m. half. For setting and adjustment, follow the instructions for the particular movement. Current GMT Master II specifications include caliber 3285 with approximately 70 hours of power reserve.
Read the Comparison Photos Carefully
The gallery also contains Pepsi, two tone and other GMT examples. Their captions distinguish them from the Batman photographs so a different bezel or metal combination is not mistaken for a BLNR specification. Compare case condition, bracelet fit, service history and documentation on the actual watch. A historical price, a nickname or a discontinued configuration does not guarantee a future resale value.
