How to Sell a Luxury Watch: From Preparation to Handover
Share
A watch sale is easier to manage when you separate preparation, evaluation and the final handover. You do not need a perfect set of records to start, but you should know which details are confirmed and which still need inspection.
1. Prepare the watch and records
Gather the watch, spare links, box, warranty card and service invoices you have. Photograph its condition for your records. Write down known faults or changes, including replaced parts. Leave internal inspection to a qualified professional.
2. Request an evaluation
Share the brand, reference if known and a description of the condition. Ask whether an initial estimate is provisional and what is needed for a firm offer. Confirm arrangements before shipping or leaving a watch with a buyer.
Do not pay for polishing or a full service solely to prepare for sale without first asking whether that expense would improve the offer.
3. Compare the terms
Consider the final amount you would receive, any deductions and the payment timing. If comparing direct sale with consignment, include the commission and the possibility that the watch may take time to sell. Ask how custody and return of an unsold watch are handled.
4. Complete the handover
Confirm payment arrangements before completing the transaction. Keep a receipt identifying the watch, accessories, agreed amount and buyer. Resolve any difference from the earlier offer before proceeding.
Our Boca Raton showroom can help you begin an evaluation. Same day offers and immediate payment options are available after evaluation and agreement. These steps also help you decide when an offer is worth accepting and when you would prefer to keep the watch.
