Diamond Key Necklace: Heart Shape, Design and Grading
Share
A heart shaped center forms the top of this diamond key pendant, with a narrow stem leading to three round stones below. The shape gives the necklace its character even before the diamond grades are considered.

What D and Flawless mean
The original feature described the center diamond as D color and Flawless. D is the top color grade on the D to Z scale. Flawless means no inclusions or blemishes are visible to a skilled grader at 10× magnification; it does not mean a stone cannot be damaged.
These are grades for an identified diamond, not a blanket grade for every stone in a piece. Confirm them using the matching report. See GIA’s diamond quality guide for the grading terms.

A heart shape needs its own assessment
Look at the balance of the lobes, the cleft and the point, as well as how the stone handles light. GIA’s standard overall cut grade for D to Z diamonds applies to standard round brilliants, not to this heart shape. Polish and symmetry grades are separate. GIA explains that distinction in its grading process.
Before buying, confirm the center weight and the total weight separately. An archived description is not enough to resolve carat figures or establish the grades of accent stones.

The open X shaped ring has an oval center with four pear shaped accents. Its silhouette is distinct from the key pendant, and each piece needs its own specifications and reports.
