Rolex Datejust vs. Day-Date: Calendar and Style Differences
Share
The quickest visible distinction between a Rolex Datejust and Day-Date is the calendar. Both display a date near three o’clock. The Day-Date also shows the day of the week in a window across the top of the dial.

Compare the two displays
The gray patterned Datejust shown here has a date magnifier and stone set bezel. The green dial Day-Date has a fluted bezel, with its day window above the hands. These are individual examples, not a complete list of available configurations.

Material is a separate question
Rolex describes the Day-Date as a precious metal watch, made in gold or platinum. A light colored watch should not automatically be described as stainless steel. Likewise, a bracelet showing two colors does not prove a particular combination of metals.

Use the complete reference when comparing
Sizes, movements and calendar adjustment methods differ across generations. Request the full reference, metal description and service history, and ask whether the dial or gem setting has been changed. Try the actual bracelet length and case profile before deciding which feels better.

Prices depend on the individual watch and current market; older price lists are not current offers. Contact Diamonds by Raymond Lee for available Datejust and Day-Date examples with documented details.
