Heart Shaped Engagement Rings: Diamond Cuts and Heart Motifs
Share
A Heart Cut and a Heart Motif Are Different
A heart shaped engagement ring may contain a single heart cut diamond, or it may use several stones arranged in a heart outline. The three stacked pavé rings in this gallery show the second approach. They should not be described as three individual heart cut center diamonds.

Consider the Center Stone’s Outline
For a heart cut stone, look at the balance between the two lobes, the cleft and the pointed tip. View it at the distance you would normally see it on your hand. There is no universal minimum carat weight that makes every heart outline attractive.

Compare the Setting
The yellow colored heart center in the gallery has a halo and a raised setting. The side view helps show how that structure sits above the band. Ask about protection at the tip and check how the ring meets a wedding band before choosing a pairing.

Confirm the Stone Details
Color in a photograph does not establish a diamond’s natural color origin or treatment history. Read the individual report and ask about the center and surrounding stones separately. Judge clarity and appearance on the actual piece rather than assuming a particular grade always looks clear to the eye.
