Panerai Submersible Carbotech PAM960: Design and Details
Share
The PAM960 in Our Archive
The Panerai Submersible Carbotech PAM960 brings together a dark patterned case, a broad diving bezel and bright blue dial details. The watch in these photographs is shown on a blue strap. That is the configuration in our gallery; Panerai’s original specification describes a black rubber strap, so the blue strap should not be presented as its standard factory delivery.
Reference Specific Specifications
Panerai identifies PAM00960 as a 42mm model with the automatic OP XXXIV movement and a power reserve of three days. The dial has a date display at 3 o’clock and small seconds at 9 o’clock. Its unidirectional bezel and prominent crown guard contribute to the Submersible’s distinctive outline. These details belong to this reference, rather than to every Carbotech watch.
What Carbotech Adds to the Design
The case material combines carbon fiber with a polymer binder. Its visible layers give the case a patterned surface instead of the uniform appearance of polished steel. Panerai uses Carbotech for the case, bezel and crown protecting device on this model. The contrast with the blue markings is a large part of the watch’s visual appeal.
Comparing an Available Example
The manufacturer rates the reference to 300 meters, but an older watch needs a current condition assessment before water use. Ask about service history, pressure testing, strap condition and the supplied accessories. Do not confuse this 42mm PAM960 with the larger PAM1616, which has different specifications. The original photographs document a past example, not a promise of current stock.
