Rolex Daytona 16528: The Yellow Gold Zenith Generation
Share
The yellow gold Daytona 16528 brings a warmer appearance to the familiar three register chronograph. Our archived photographs show a champagne colored dial, dark rings around the counters and bright hour markers, framed by an engraved metal bezel.
The Reference and Its Movement
A Sotheby's catalogue entry for reference 16528 documents a yellow gold Zenith Daytona with calibre 4030. This places the reference in the earlier automatic Daytona family. Rolex introduced calibre 4030 in 1988, before replacing it with its own calibre 4130 in 2000.
That reference history helps identify the model family. It does not establish the originality or service condition of every watch bearing the reference.

What the Gallery Shows
The dial and case share a warm palette, while the dark counter surrounds make the chronograph layout easier to distinguish. The broad bracelet links continue the polished look of the case. Side views show the crown and chronograph pushers, details worth inspecting closely on a preowned example.

Questions Before Buying
Request the reference, production information and service history. Ask whether the dial and hour markers are original to the watch, and whether the hands, bezel or bracelet have been replaced. Check the chronograph's start, stop and reset functions during a professional inspection.
The original article identified this photographed watch as reference 16528. The gallery remains an archive feature rather than an offer of current stock. See our available Rolex watches or send us the reference you are seeking.
