Rolex Batgirl and Pepsi: Nicknames, Bezels and Bracelets
Share
“Pepsi” and “Batgirl” are collector nicknames used when discussing Rolex GMT-Master II watches. Pepsi refers to a red and blue bezel. Batgirl is commonly used for a blue and black bezel version on a Jubilee bracelet. The full reference remains more useful than either nickname.

One important gallery distinction
The red bezel watch in the next two photographs has a red and black insert, often called “Coke.” It is a separate comparison example, not a photograph of a red and blue Pepsi. Its older looking configuration should not be assigned modern specifications from another reference.

Compare bracelets as well as bezel colors
The blue and black watch on an Oyster bracelet has broad three piece links. The Jubilee example has smaller center links and a different texture. The bracelet changes the visual effect, but it cannot establish a reference or movement by itself.

Keep generations separate
The original article mixed dates, references and bracelet availability. Check the case reference and records of the offered watch before comparing its movement or reserve. Rolex’s GMT-Master II overview explains the travel display and current collection; it is not a specification sheet for every older example.

Make a practical comparison
Try each watch for readability and comfort. Check bracelet length, included links, clasp operation and service history. Ask whether the bezel insert, dial or other components have been replaced.
The choice is not settled by a nickname or an old price quoted online. Compare the actual watches, their documented condition and current terms. The photographs here remain an archive rather than a statement of today’s inventory.
