Rolex Sky Dweller: Travel Time and Annual Calendar
Share
The Rolex Sky Dweller combines a second time zone with an annual calendar. Introduced in 2012, it is designed to show local time and a reference time together. Understanding the displays is more useful when shopping than assuming complexity guarantees a higher resale value.
How to Read the Displays
The central hands show local time. An off center 24 hour disc provides a reference time, helping distinguish day from night in that time zone. The month appears in one of twelve small windows around the dial, with a date window at three o'clock.

What the Annual Calendar Does
The Saros calendar accounts for months with 30 and 31 days. It still needs correction around the end of February; it is not a perpetual calendar. The Ring Command bezel works with the crown to select settings. Use the instructions for your watch rather than experimenting with unfamiliar controls.
Rolex's Sky Dweller information describes the current model and calibre 9002. Earlier examples used a different movement generation. Confirm the exact reference when comparing preowned watches, rather than applying current specifications to every year.
Compare the Configuration
Case material, dial, bracelet or strap and production generation affect both the experience of wearing the watch and the asking price. A steel and white gold version should not be compared directly with a full gold example without accounting for those differences.
Check Condition and Operation
Ask about service records, calendar operation, bracelet fit and any replaced parts. Have the seller demonstrate the setting procedure. Boxes and papers can add useful context but do not replace an inspection of the watch.
Prices depend on the individual piece and current demand. Browse our available watches or contact the showroom about a Sky Dweller you are considering.
