Rolex Submariner 116659SABR: A Closer Look
Share
The Rolex Submariner 116659SABR shown here uses gemstone setting to give a familiar watch design a very different appearance. Blue stones frame a pavé dial, and the white metal bracelet keeps the focus on the face and bezel.

Look closely at the photographed watch
The pictures show a dial covered with small clear stones and contrasting blue hour markers, plus a date display at three o'clock. Describing it simply as a blue dial misses that distinction. The store record identifies the reference as 116659SABR with a 40 mm 18k white gold case and an automatic movement.
This is a time and date watch, not a chronograph. It does not have stopwatch pushers or elapsed time subdials. A bezel and a chronograph are different mechanisms, even when both can help with timing.

Ask about the actual configuration
For a gemstone set watch, ask for documentation supporting the reference, dial, bezel and any service changes. Photographs alone cannot establish whether every gemstone setting is factory original. Request a clear explanation of any replacement or aftermarket components before comparing prices.

Check condition and fit
Inspect the bracelet, clasp and included links, along with the condition of the stones and settings. Ask about service history and current operation. A historical water resistance specification does not confirm that a preowned example is ready for swimming; current testing and advice for that watch matter.
