Gem Set Rolex Submariner: Blue Dial and Bezel Design
Share
A blue dial and alternating blue and clear bezel stones give this Submariner a distinctly decorative appearance. The stone set lugs extend that detail onto the case, while the broad metal bracelet keeps a simpler finish.
What Stands Out in the Gallery
The dial has a date window beneath a magnifying lens and large contrasting hour markers. Around it, rectangular stones form the bezel's border. Smaller stones cover the lugs and parts of the case near the crown.
The original feature called the stones sapphires and diamonds. Their identity, grades and treatment history require documentation; blue and clear appearances alone do not establish those facts.

Separate the Watch from the Decorative Work
The Submariner name does not tell you whether this gemstone configuration came from Rolex or was added later. Ask for the complete reference, original configuration and records of any custom setting or replacement parts.
Case size and movement details must match that reference. Specifications from a newer Submariner should not be assigned to an older watch simply because both have a blue dial.

Buying and Wearing a Gem Set Example
Inspect the setting for loose or damaged stones, and check bracelet flexibility and clasp closure. Ask how any modifications affect servicing. The decorative bezel shown here lacks the conventional numbered dive scale, so it should not be presented as equivalent dive timing equipment.
A preowned watch's present water resistance also needs its own assessment. Enjoy the photographs as a design feature, then ask for the records of a specific watch before deciding. Browse our current Rolex collection for available examples.
