Rolex Submariner Buying Guide in Boca Raton
Share
The Rolex Submariner combines a clear dial with a rotating timing bezel. When shopping for a preowned example in Boca Raton, start with the reference rather than assuming that every Submariner has the same case, movement or materials.

Compare the generation and display
Rolex introduced the Submariner in 1953. The range includes models with a date window and models without one, across different generations. Case dimensions, bezel inserts, bracelets and movements vary, so a current specification sheet should not be applied to an older watch.
Rolex’s Submariner overview provides background on the collection. Use the documentation for the exact reference when comparing a watch for sale.

Look beyond dial and bezel color
Green, blue and black configurations can look quite different on the wrist. Collector nicknames are useful shorthand, but they do not establish a watch’s reference or original configuration. Confirm the metal and whether the dial, bezel or bracelet has been replaced or modified.
A modern Submariner’s unidirectional bezel is an elapsed time feature. Do not confuse its minute scale with a GMT watch’s 24 hour scale or a chronograph’s speed scale.

Inspect the individual watch
Review case edges, bracelet wear, clasp operation and available service history. Ask what testing has been done and what any warranty covers. A factory water resistance rating does not prove the present condition of a preowned watch.
