Selling Jewelry in Boca Raton: Benefits and Options
Share
Selling jewelry you no longer wear can free up space and provide funds for something else. Before deciding, consider whether the piece would be more useful to you after a repair or a change to the setting.

Sort the pieces you want evaluated
Separate items you definitely want to keep from those you are considering selling. Bring any grading reports, receipts and service records. Point out signatures, replaced stones, damaged clasps or previous alterations so the evaluation starts with the right information.

Understand the purchase offer
A finished piece may have value beyond its metal, depending on its stones, maker, design, condition and demand. Ask whether the offer reflects the complete piece or primarily its recoverable materials.
An insurance replacement appraisal is not a purchase offer. Review the amount you would receive, any deductions and the payment arrangements. A direct sale, trade and consignment can produce different terms, so compare each separately.

Repair or trade may also be worth discussing
If you like a piece but cannot wear it comfortably, ask about repair or resizing before deciding to sell. Request an estimate before approving work. Cleaning, repairs and alterations should not be assumed to be free or discounted as part of a sale.
For a trade, look at both sides of the transaction: the allowance for your piece and the price of the item you want. Confirm any remaining balance and the terms that apply to the new purchase.
