Engagement Ring Styles from Our 2022 Archive
Share
This collection of photographs comes from our 2022 engagement ring archive. It brings together several designs that are still useful to compare: a solitaire, a halo, a ring with side stones and a band with diamonds around it. It is a look at those styles, rather than a ranking of current trends.
Start with the Center Stone
An oval gives the ring a longer outline. A round center has a more evenly balanced shape, while a square or rectangular stone draws attention to its corners and straight edges. Try the shapes on your hand before deciding how large a stone you want.

Look Beneath the Diamond
The gallery and shoulders can change the character of a ring as much as the center. The side view below shows a decorative setting that is less obvious from above. Check its height and how it feels beside the neighboring fingers.

Halo or Additional Band?
A halo surrounds the center stone. A wedding band sits alongside the engagement ring. Both add detail, but they create different outlines. Compare the complete set, including any gap between the rings and whether their settings rub together.

Compare Shape, Quality and Fit Separately
A rectangular step cut and a square center can look quite different even when the rings have similar bands. Diamond shape does not establish a clarity grade, and a photograph cannot prove that a stone is flawless. Ask for the details of the actual diamond and examine it under ordinary lighting.

For a ring with diamonds around the entire band, confirm sizing before purchase. A partially set band may leave more plain metal below the finger, but its resizing options still depend on construction. The archived rings pictured here are design examples; availability needs to be checked separately.
