Piaget in the 1960s: Jewelry Watches and Decorative Dials
Share
A New Place for Jewelry Watches
Piaget records the opening of its first Salon Piaget in Geneva in 1959. The salon was a place to present its work, not the name of a watch model. This distinction was blurred in the earlier article and matters to the story of the house’s development.

Decorative Dials in the 1960s
Piaget’s history identifies 1963 as the release of its first watches with ornamental stone dials. Color and jewelry craftsmanship became central to that design language. The archive photographs here illustrate colorful dials and textured bracelets, but do not establish that every pictured watch was made in the 1960s.

Read Each Watch Individually
A green or blue dial cannot be identified as a specific gemstone from color alone. Confirm the material, reference and approximate date using the individual watch’s records. The original article combined several listings, so their dimensions, movements and accessories should not be transferred from one example to another.

Details Worth Comparing
Look at how the bracelet texture continues into the case and how the hands stand out from the dial. Check fit carefully, especially on an integrated bracelet. For a previously owned piece, ask about service history and replacement components before deciding whether it suits everyday wear or occasional use.
