Rolex Datejust Review: Black Dial and Two Tone Styling
Share
A black dial gives this two tone Rolex Datejust a strong contrast between its face and bracelet. The gem set bezel and hour markers add a different effect from the fluted metal bezel seen on many other Datejust watches.

Dial, bezel and bracelet
The date window sits at three o’clock beneath a magnifying lens. The five row Jubilee style bracelet creates a finer pattern than a three row Oyster bracelet, with warm center links between lighter outer links.
The images are useful for comparing the design. They cannot establish the watch’s exact size, alloy, movement or the origin of its gem setting. Those details belong in the description of the specific watch offered for sale.

Why the reference matters
The Datejust spans many generations. A current model’s movement, power reserve, clasp or luminous material should not automatically be assigned to an older example. Rolex’s Datejust features guide is a starting point for the current collection; ask for the reference and records of a preowned watch.
A gem set bezel is also distinct from a fluted bezel. Ask whether the dial, bezel and stones are original or later changes, and how that conclusion was reached.

Condition and everyday use
Check bracelet fit, link wear, clasp operation and the crystal. Review the service history and any proposed work, including polishing. Present water resistance needs assessment before washing or swimming with an older watch.

The photographs remain here as an archived example. Ask Diamonds by Raymond Lee about available Datejust watches to compare actual condition, accessories and purchase terms. A familiar design or prestigious name does not guarantee future resale value.
