Rolex Sky Dweller: Annual Calendar and Travel Time
Share
A Travel Watch with a Calendar
Introduced in 2012, the Rolex Sky Dweller combines local time, a separate 24 hour reference time display and an annual calendar. Its offset disc gives the dial a recognizable appearance. The archive photographs show several earlier configurations, including a white dial with Roman markers and darker dials with baton style markers.
What the Annual Calendar Does
The Saros annual calendar distinguishes between 30 and 31 day months. When the watch is kept running and correctly set, it requires a manual correction after February. That makes it different from a perpetual calendar. The month is indicated through small windows around the dial, alongside the date display. A stopped watch will still need to be set correctly.
Setting and Movement Generations
The Ring Command bezel works with the crown as part of the setting system. Use the manual for the particular watch before adjusting it. Rolex introduced caliber 9002 to the Sky Dweller in 2023; earlier examples used caliber 9001. A current specification should not automatically be assigned to a watch pictured in an older article.
Compare the Actual Configuration
Metal combinations, dials and bracelets vary across the collection. A pale metal appearance does not mean every component is steel: White Rolesor combines steel with white gold elements. Confirm the reference and materials of any available example. Trying the watch on helps assess its 42mm case and bracelet fit. The original gallery preserves past examples, rather than promising current stock, a complete list of references or a guaranteed resale outcome.
