Buying a Rolex Submariner Date: What to Check
Share
A Submariner Date can be an appealing watch, but the right purchase depends on the individual example. The photographs here show a blue bezel, champagne colored dial and two tone bracelet. They are a useful visual reference, not a current price list.

Start with the complete reference
Confirm the case reference and compare its original specifications with the watch being offered. Submariner generations differ in size, movement, bezel construction and bracelet details. A no date Submariner is a separate configuration, not a replica of a Submariner Date.

Ask about the dial and bezel
This dial has round bright markers and dark rectangular markers. Request a written description of the stones and any later modifications. Do not identify bezel material or factory originality from color alone.

Review condition before price
Inspect the bracelet, clasp, case and bezel, and ask for service history. Have current water resistance assessed before taking a previously worn watch into water. Compare dated offers for similar documented watches rather than relying on old article prices or assuming every Submariner will retain its purchase value.
