Where to Sell Your Rolex: Comparing Your Options
Share
The best place to sell a Rolex depends on what matters most to you: a prompt offer, control over the asking price or access to a particular group of collectors. Compare the amount you would actually receive and the conditions attached to it.

Direct sale or consignment
A dealer’s purchase offer is an amount for the watch after inspection and agreement. Consignment instead places the watch with a seller who markets it for you. Payment follows a completed sale under the contract, so the advertised price is not the same as your proceeds.
Ask for the commission, any agreed expenses, the consignment period and who can authorize a price reduction. A larger proposed asking price does not guarantee a larger or faster payout.

Auction and private sale
An auction may suit a watch with documented collector interest, but the estimate is not a promise. Review seller charges, reserve terms and payment timing. With a private sale, you handle enquiries, identity checks, payment arrangements and delivery. Include that work when comparing routes.
Whichever route you choose, provide the reference, clear photographs, service history and details of any replaced or modified parts. Original accessories are useful context, but neither a box nor a warranty card proves that a watch is authentic.

Compare offers on the same basis
Check whether each figure is a firm inspected offer or a preliminary estimate. Record deductions, conditions and how long the offer remains valid. You can decline and take time to consider your options.
