Piaget Opal Dial Watches: Color, Design and Care
Share
Color as the Centerpiece
The Piaget watches in this original opal dial feature use color and gem borders to create a jewelry focused appearance. The colorful center and pale outer dial in several photographs draw the eye inward, while woven metal bracelets continue the texture around the wrist.

Do Not Identify Every Stone by Color
The gallery also contains a blue patterned dial. Its appearance alone does not establish opal or another stone material. Confirm the dial description from the individual watch’s records rather than assigning the same material to every photograph in an opal themed article.

View the Watch in Changing Light
For an opal dial, changing the angle can change the visible color effect. Compare the complete face, including how the hands read against the pattern. Gem borders and hour markers add another layer, so take time to assess both the decoration and the usefulness of the display.

Care for the Whole Watch
GIA notes that high heat and sudden temperature changes can damage opal. A gemstone cleaning method is not automatically safe for an assembled watch. Ask a watch specialist about the dial, seals and setting before cleaning; do not soak the watch on the basis of general jewelry advice.
