The Ballon Bleu de Cartier arrived in 2007 and immediately rewrote what a round watch could look like. The defining detail is the sapphire-set crown tucked inside a protective cabochon bridge on the case side, a solution so elegant it became the collection's signature within a season. At 28mm, this is the small size, sized deliberately for a fine wrist and for those who want their Cartier to read as jewelry first and timepiece second. The white dial carries Cartier's classic Roman numeral chapters in black, clean against the bright lacquered background, with blued-steel sword hands sweeping across the center.
