Introduced in 2007, the Cartier Ballon Bleu became one of the most recognized watch silhouettes of the modern era. The name itself — "Blue Balloon" — refers to the rounded, cushion-like case profile and the signature blue cabochon crown set flush into the right side of the case. That single design detail, a domed synthetic spinel crown nestled into the case flank rather than protruding from it, gave the collection an instantly distinctive look that no other house had done quite the same way. The 28mm sizing sits squarely in the refined, understated end of the collection, sized for a smaller wrist and deliberately proportioned for all-day wear.
This particular example pairs a clean white dial with classic Cartier Roman numerals running I through XII, a hallmark of the maison's watchmaking tradition stretching back more than a century. The stainless steel case and integrated three-link bracelet read as polished and cohesive, with the hidden folding clasp keeping the bracelet's lines unbroken on the wrist.
