The Rolex 116333 Datejust II arrived in 2009 as a larger, more assertive take on the legendary Datejust lineage. At 41mm, the case gives the classic silhouette a modern presence on the wrist without abandoning the dress-sport versatility that made the Datejust one of the most recognized references in watchmaking history. The 116333 in particular pairs Oystersteel with 18k yellow gold throughout — the case flanks, the fluted bezel, and the center links of the Oyster bracelet — a combination Rolex calls Rolesor, and one that has been in continuous production since the 1930s in various forms.
This example comes dressed in an ivory dial with clean, slender stick markers that keep the face uncluttered and legible. The cream-white tone of the dial works beautifully against the warm yellow gold of the fluted bezel, giving the watch a dressy, almost vintage warmth that the all-steel versions simply can't replicate. Vision review confirms the fluting is sharp and the bracelet links are tight with no stretch, consistent with light, careful wear.
