The reference 116503 is the Yellow Rolesor configuration of Rolex's Cosmograph Daytona, pairing an Oystersteel case and bracelet with 18k yellow gold applied to the bezel, crown, and alternating bracelet links. The Daytona itself needs little introduction — introduced in 1963 and named for the Daytona International Speedway, it remains the most coveted chronograph in the world. The 116503 generation, powered by the in-house Caliber 4130, represents a high point in the reference's evolution: a column-wheel movement with a 72-hour power reserve, COSC chronometer certification, and none of the movement complexity that plagued earlier ébauche-based Daytonas.
What makes this particular example exceptional is the dial. Rolex fitted it at the factory with a mother-of-pearl surface set with diamond hour markers, and the result is genuinely arresting. The MOP shifts from white to soft iridescent cream depending on the angle of the light, and the diamond indices catch that light in turn. The red DAYTONA text across the lower sub-register and the tachymeter scale engraved into the yellow gold bezel contrast crisply against the pale dial. Vision inspection confirms the case, bezel, and oyster bracelet are all in excellent shape, with no visible scratches or dings, and the clasp retains its yellow gold Rolex crown logo in clean condition. The bracelet fits a wrist up to 7.75 inches.
