What Is Your Rolex Worth in Today’s Resale Market?
Share
A headline about a booming watch market cannot tell you what your Rolex is worth. Demand changes between references, configurations and dates. A useful estimate starts with your watch, then compares it with relevant market evidence.

Identify the exact comparison
Begin with the reference and configuration, including the dial, bezel, bracelet and metal. Two watches from the same Rolex family can attract different buyers. Condition, service history, replacement parts and the accessories included also affect whether another listing is a fair comparison.
A photograph or nickname alone may not identify a reference reliably. If details are uncertain, ask for an inspection before treating an estimate as final.

Separate asking prices from sales
An online listing shows what a seller is requesting. It does not prove what a buyer paid or how long the watch has been available. Completed sales can be more informative, but fees, condition and included accessories still need to be considered.
Record when the comparison was observed. An old auction result, a retail replacement appraisal and a current dealer purchase offer answer different questions. Avoid averaging unrelated references simply because their dials look alike.

Ask how the offer was reached
A dealer must consider the likely resale price alongside inspection, preparation, selling costs and the risk of holding stock. Ask which characteristics of your watch have the greatest effect on the offer, and whether the amount is provisional or confirmed after inspection.
